I don't write many reviews and every other review I've done is when I got ripped off by a product that didn't work. I do almost all shopping on Amazon. This is my first positive review because this product exceeded my expectations on a topic that has really frustrated me.I bought this boat in 2003 already oxidized. Shortly after I purchased a brand name gel coat restoration kit. 3 steps. Remove oxidation, wax, Polish. I spent probably 30 hours doing it (24 ft deck boat). On a scale of 1-10 it was maybe a 4-5.Two years ago I researched the heck out of ways to restore gel coat. I wet sanded it twice with rougher then finer sandpaper. Then I waxed it FOUR FRIGGEN times with two types of wax and polish. Again 30 hours and a shine of 4-5 out of 10. That may be generous rating.I resigned myself to the fact that I would have to spend $3,000 to wrap and or have it professionally restored. Professional restoration is $100 a ft plus more if inside hull is large.I was buying some new accessories for my boat and looked at gel coat kits and saw this. It was different way to skin this cat than I had seen before. For $60 I gave it a try.I used the cleaner they sent and gave it a quick bath. Decent cleaner and not a waste of money. Then I applied the glass coating. Followed instructions and gave 5 coats. It was sunny and 80 degrees out.UN-FRIGGEN-REAL! It is a gloss of 10 out of 10. It said to wait a min to let it dry before applying next coat. I had to rub it to tell because it looks wet after 3 coats. It took no time at all. I'd estimate 10 min per two ft section. I had 62ft long x 4ft tall of hull to do so maybe 5 hours or work. Still have to do the inside but maybe another 3 hours. So in approx 8 hours I'll have done what took me 30+ to do w the other methods. Plus a shine of 10 compared to a 4-5.Here's some lessons I learned along the way. Do sections where you stand in one place. I ended up doing approx 2 ft at a time. Keep good way to count applications. I'm sure there are spots early on where I did more layers than necessary which only wasted time. Apply horizontally like you're painting with paint. Early on I wasted strokes like I was waxing. Make sure to clean the boat well because smudge will still be there but shinier.I'm thinking about moving to the Keys (my dream) and starting a gel coat restoration business that charges half price ($50 p ft) and use this stuff. Based off the quote I got for my boat and the time it took me I figure if make about $150 p hr.The before and after pics don't do it justice. 10 out of 10.
