This edition of the play is full of typographical errors, as if the person who copied it did not know the English language and did not know that mistake were being made. I guess you do get what you pay for.The Kindle version of this play is so riddled with typos that it distracts the reader from Williams' amazing narrative. It's difficult to maintain the internal flow of the story while trying to mentally negotiate 1's used in place of exclamation points, erroneous capitalizations, and many many misspellings. To enjoy this wonderful work, you should purchase a different Kindle version. The scene with Jim and Laura was especially well done. The skillfull description bringing out a lost soul to a joyous level was well done and believable.i ordered this with all my other books when i was ordering books for my classes. im taking a theater appreciation class so purchasing play books were mandatory. i had ordered 8 books including this one. they all had arrived a couple days to 2 weeks after placing my order EXCEPT this one. it took about 4 weeks for this book to get to me. by that time i had failed a quiz and study guide i was supposed to fill out because of the missing book. i am not sure if something happened along the delivery, but i was very mad. it seemed, to me, that the people running this place are very slow at sending out products. maybe someone just forgot to send my product out, but that is still unacceptable. people are always expecting the best service possible when purchasing things. after contacting the people who i had bought the book from, they told me i was only allowed to return the book if it was in original form and what not. but i laughed and told them i havent even recieved the book in the first place! so after that the book took barely a week to get to me. funny how when i first ordered the it 3 weeks passed without seeing the book, but when i asked for a return because the book was no where to be seen it arrived in just a week.A must read for all ages.As a theatre Major it is a little typical for me to like this play, but the characters are truly complex and interesting.A lot of plays just can't be read. The Glass Menagerie is an exception. I've read it twice - once in high school and once in college - and loved it both times. Good story that every can enjoy. My granddaughter needed some warm clothing for Korea which was going to be a lot colder in January than her home in California. She got a lot of use from these and I did not get any complaints. This is a hardback edition specifically made for school students with a very short Common Entrance or sub-GCSE level introduction. Not an adult edition with extensive explanatory notes as you might expect from a Penguin edition. The copy I received did not conform to description as unmarked and was basically useless because every page had been marked with indelible highlighter as well as pencil notes by Zara.Useful book with interesting analysis to further your understanding and knowledgeThe Glass Menagerie is a dark tale set during the 1930s recession, dealing with the harsh reality of life and the ways people use escapism to avoid being weighed down by it. It's a great, gripping play that gets increasingly darker and more depressive as it slogs on. I personally loved the ending. Definitely worth a read.Possibly for a production next year, so nothing more to say about it except to say it’s a great play and I have seen a few productions professionally done. And good amateur ones as well.I love this play. Went to see the current production of this at the West end the other week and absolutely loved it. Ordered this book straight after. It's a lovely short read, read it in a day or two. It's funny, heart felt and beautifully written. This is the first Tennessee Williams play I have seen and read. Very keen to read his other works now.
